What is the name of the material?
I’m a sewing novice. My husband is getting me a sewing machine for Christmas and I want to make a few simple things first.
I want to make some flowing net curtains for my daughter’s lower bunk. I was thinking of chiffon (I think that’s quite expensive) but something soft like that. What other material should I use?
Our Son has the upper bunk and I wanted to make it like a Pirate cove. I have a picture of what I want to do in my head but some other ideas would be great.
I have made clothes and teddies but that was over 10yrs ago so I’m starting simple first. Are there any other simple things I could do to help me get use to sewing again?
Hey, I’m going to use a soft organza. Pastel pink with a few pearl purple sequins stitched one the bottom.
The idea the second lady came up with is fantastic but I’m not doing it for ease I really want to make it myself.

Chiffon is a nightmare to work on. It frays and snags. It’s also not suitable for a little girl’s bed.
If it was me, I’d just buy some inexpensive sheer curtains made of polyester that are already made and just tuck them under the upper bunk’s mattress. Use your time to make her things like pillows and a quilt or something like that. Maybe an over the door hanging shoe pocket that compliments your design or decorate the curtains by sewing on matching designs. A matching pillowcase would be a fun addition, too.
